Comments
Comments: We barebooted to Black Pond then put on snowshoes. the Black Pond bushwhack was well tracked out although slightly different than what I am used to. The Brutus bushwhack started about 100 feet past the normal start but quickly goes up to meet the old logging road. From the drainage it angles up well to start but misses the big rock above the slide. As it approached the slide area it turns steeply uphill possibly paralleling the Owl's Head Path before unknowingly dumping you onto it. We also did not notice when we left the path for the whack on the way down. The ridge walk was straightforward but a little tight in spots. Sticky snow was causing snoballing under the snowshoes in the afternoon. Thanks Whitney for joining Marlie and me for this nice stroll through the woods.
