19 Mile Brook Trail is very packed - some places down to ice. Carter Done Trail has some annoying blowdowns that easily crawled under or climbed over. With the melting snow and heavy traffic, these segments are becoming more icey. Carter-Moriah Trail was great - except for the blowdowns which significantly slowed our pace. We had planned to do an out & Back but decided to go down North Carter & South Imp. Met some great hikers -Bill & Bill - on the trail and they provided clear markings (3 arrows) for Dodge Camp cutoff and the. They and Bill’s wife gave us a ride back to the trailhead. Great views on the ridge line ... gorgeous weather but snow became sticky on the ridge causing balling under the snowshoes. Heidi’s 26/48 and 27/48 and her 6th & 7th winter 4K. We had a great time and really appreciated Bill, Bill, and Diane. A great day in the mountains!! |
