Comments
Comments: Tecumseh Trail was pretty solid this morning on the way up. Pretty well-trafficked and packed down. Microspikes were perfect. Some post holes on the sides of the trails where the snow was pretty deep. Once the temps warmed up, the trails became pretty soft and broken up. Snowshoes may have been a good choice for the way down. On the way back down from the summit, a group of 4 teenage snowboarders came out of the woods on a trail from the ski area and rode their boards down Tecumseh trail. They almost took out a family with two small children who were climbing the trail. The teens rode the trail on their boards for about 0.5 mile before joining back up with the ski trail. We were behind them and witnessed them trashing the trail with their boards. They heel-edged the entire 0.5 mile portion and really tore up the once hard-packed trail. I would really like to see Waterville Valley put up some signs and barricades to prevent this from happening. On a positive note, the warm temps made for a beautiful hike. The summit was fogged in so no views were to be had, but we had a blast butt-sliding down portions of the trail on the way down!
