Day was great started out at roughly 6:45AM. Temperature was around 40 deg at the base. Used microspikes up until halfway through the Engine Hill BW and switched over to snowshoes. Started following tracks on the BW until we lost them and had to continue on ourselves. Got sidetracked about .5 miles into the BW and went left into the Pine trees zigzagging through the brush like an actual bushwhack. Stay to the right when you get about a half mile in on the BW as that is the more well defined trail at this point. Summit was windy and and was able to see a South Easterly view until that got covered by clouds. The rest of the view was covered with dark clouds. No view of Washington at that point. Temperature at the top was roughly 20 deg. Hiked down using snowshoes until the end of the BW and swapped back over to microspikes. The last three miles had developed into pretty sticky snow. Hike took us roughly 6 hours. |
