Super slow going. Started at 9:30 AM. Wore Hillsounds to Zealand Trail then switched to Tubbs, Switched back to Hillsounds on exposed ledge on the Twinway and kept them on all the way to Zealand summit, arriving at 2:20 PM. Twinway was a mess but became more stable as the temps dropped, Monorail was stable in center. Stayed in Hillsounds on the way out - no issues except for tedious pace. The colder temps as day wore on and foot traffic to hut helped improve the going a bit and descent was Not as slow motion as ascent. Still got out in the dark, 6:30 PM. Awesome day out with trails pretty much to myself and sweet views from Zeacliff. |
