| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot plowed; very little ice. With 10:30 arrival I had to park along side of entrance. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Wet/Sticky |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossings either easily walked across or solidly snow bridged. If bridges had given out today the water levels were low enough for easy crossings. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Few duck unders. May be a few obstructing blowdowns between the peaks where current trail goes around. |

| Comments: |
Trails were smoothly packed except for section between the peaks. Light traction worked fine; some may prefer crampons. I used spikes up to South Hancock, snowshoes from South Hancock back down to loop split and then spikes from there on out. Only one slip coming down from North Hancock as the trail was mostly packed sticky snow. Had to kick off the shoes a few times for better traction. Few spots were starting to turn to ice. Nice running into LRiz & Todd and then Raven up on the ridge as well as about 17 others throughout day. Much nicer weather than expected! Glad I didn't listen to advise on FB and stay in Vt. today. |
