Comments
Comments: First time hiking Little Monadnock. The rhododendrons were beautiful in the park even in winter. I hiked to the summit first and went past it south to a small viewpoint about 0.1 mile from the top. Then I hiked back north along the M-M Trail to the North Meadows viewpoint. This is approx 0.2 miles from where the Little Monadnock Trail terminates into the M-M Trail. This is the main/popular view for the mountain as there aren't really any from the summit. There was <2" new snow from Friday's storm but you could get away with bare booting if you're careful. I tested out my new Salomon X Ultra GTX 3's low cut today and they were awesome. I bare booted on the ascent but used Yaktrak's along the M-M Trail and on my descent. A few snow flurries fell while on the summit and I could see a snow squall west near Vermont border.
