Parking/Access Road Notes: i parked at a pull off on the side of rt. 49 in waterville north of the peak and on the east side of the highway. this is labelled as "picnic area" on the usgs. it looks to have been plowed at points this winter, but not recently. pretty well packed down by prior vehicles.

Comments
Comments: from the car i crossed the powerline and headed up the north ridge of the peak. woods were open with good going. not as much new snow as i was expecting. probably 6-8" to start on a base in spots and in others over bare ground. at about 2k i favored a more westerly line up towards the peak in continued open woods. snow depths increased a bit and the snowshoeing was better. a bit of patchy blowdown that wasn't buried in a couple spots in the coniferous woods heading up to the peak. a little scrappy with snow laden spruce around the summit. some decent views east and south from the ledge near the recognized high point. i followed my tracks back out.
