Such a glorious day in the Whites. Although it was lightly snowing throughout the day and no view of the surrounding mountains, it was a winter wonderland along a beautifully packed trail. Only one couple was was encountered bare-booting; we met them on their way down. Don’t know how, or, if, they made it to the summit, since that last stretch (just above tree-line was tricky). In fact, my hiking buddy, nurseA, switched to microspikes at this point (since her snowshoes didn’t have aggressive enough crampons). We had started the hike late (we had packed headlamps just in case), but was surprised how light it was at the end of the hike. Thank you, Day Light Savings! |
