I parked at the 4th Connecticut trailhead right at the border crossing on rt 3 in Pittsburg. Would have ideally parked farther south to avoid interacting with border patrol, but there was nothing else available with current snow depths. Had an interesting concersation with one of the agents about my plan. |

From the parking i walked a very short distance south and hit the woods towards the peak planning to meet the swath partway up. Snow depths north of the lakes are pretty impressive. 2ft plus of fresh powder over a deep base. Breaking was quite difficult and slow as the grade got steeper up to the swath. More deep snow on the swath up to the raised rock that is the highpoint. It is recognized just below on the u.s. side. I returned in my tracks much quicker than I ascended. |
