Comments
Comments: beautiful day to be outside. cold to start, but abundant sunshine was great.
Lonesome lake trail was firmly packed and had been heavily traveled. Hi-Canon trail was far less packed and less traveled. The lower sections were ok with snowshoes, but as I got to the higher elevations, there had been less traffic. Two guys in front of me were breaking the trail through about a foot of new snow. I could only keep up for a while and after a couple missteps that landed me hip-deep in snow (even with my snowshoes on), I gave up and retreated back down. I got to about 3600 ft elevation.
I managed to get a nice photo of the Franconia Ridge (follow link below).
