Comments
Comments: Trail was fairly well tracked through by snowshoers, though snowshoes were still helpful end to end. A few barebooters looked to be having some trouble at times with footing. From their tracks, it looks like those without snowshoes were consistently sinking 1-2" down with each step and slipping on some pitches. Snow is deep near the summits and easy to sink in to off the sides of the trail. Essentially, the hike can be done with bareboots (not sure light traction would make a difference with footing), though it will be an extra work out and will take longer. You'll have an easier time with mountaineering snowshoes/MSRs for the duration of the hike.
