Comments: The primary purpose of this post is to thank others for the hard work they have done. The Zealand road, the Zealand trail. Somebody packed out all those miles. Then the Twinway from the hut to Zeacliff. Lots of steeps and snow here. Then Psuhiker and crew from Zeacliff to Zealand and beyond. Then the couple who came down the Lend-A-Hand. Finally all those who broke out the Hale Brook trail. A heart-felt thanks.

Today the footwear of choice to get to the hut would be skis. The road and the Zealand trail are firm but not frozen so there is some powder for your edges and your fish scales to get ahold of. Above the hut to Zeacliff snowshoes or spikes are very helpful. Beyond Zeacliff the trench is too soft for anything but snowshoes. Unless you like falling in holes up to your crotch which some seem to like, Of all the trails we saw today the Lend-A-Hand has seen the least traffic. Snowshoes are a must. We saw where someone tried postholing up it but, thank the Gods, they gave a losing idea up quickly. All routes to Hale are broken out.

Last, but not least, Thank you to The Speedy C.D., K.D., and Tom from Fairlee for a fine, productive day.
