Comments
Comments: Late start around 10 AM from parking area on Mt Clinton rd. Walked along the road down to Webster Jackson trailhead. Trail was well packed so we started with spikes. Some ambitious masochists had been through when the trail wasn't so packed as there were medium depth postholes everywhere. The higher the elevation the deeper the postholes, trail is pretty messed up. Spikes were fine to summit Jackson, ice is pretty soft. In between Jackson and Pierce snow was softer and we switched to snowshoes. Stayed in snowshoes all the way over Pierce and to the junction with Eisenhower Loop although we did have to skirt some exposed rocks. Spikes over Eisenhower and down to the junction with Edmands and then back to snowshoes down to the road. Edmands looked like very little recent activity and the trail has enough snow that your constantly fighting tree branches at the higher levels...snow was so soft by the end of the day that we were sinking quite a bit even with the snowshoes. A beautiful Spring day in the mountains with great company!
