Comments
Comments: Weather and conditions heading to summit were great. Firm track, bluebird skies. Spikes most of the way but snowshoes on the black pond whack. We took the herd path to the summit. It's on the right a little ways after the last big water crossing on Lincoln Brook. Pretty vertical - not the best way up we were told by fellow hiker but pretty much the only packed trail (I guess unless you continue to the slide). Return trip was a different story as things warmed up. Black Pond whack was a mess with postholing in snowshoes. Lost the trail and slogged through hip deep snow at times to the pond. Don't follow our improvised trail! A long arduous journey to #46 but we made it.
