Comments
Comments: Square Mountain is on the NH 300 Highest List. Nice bushwhack with temps in lower 30’s we started off using bare booting and soon change over to snowshoes. From our parking we followed a woods road for a bit then jumped off into nice woods, heard a few close gun shots go off from behind us, started moving a much faster. Shortly we hit Higgins Brook and we were lucky enough to find an iced over section to cross, hit 7 more water easier crossing as we continued all in nice open woods with lots of moose activity.

At roughly 2200 ft we hit a conifer area with a few spruce traps to pull our self out of. Once out of that section we hit some ledge areas to scramble up and around. Just below the high point we hit a fall summit with what looks to be an old camp site with a few benches and what not popping though the snow. As we keep moving, looking south we popped out to an over look area with spectacular views and a straight drop down. We keep climbing and soon hit the recognized high point and summit jar with some of the best view on this NH 300 Highest List.

Our return trip was full of snowshoe post holing as the temps had warmed. Another awesome hike with my beautiful bride clocking 7 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain!
