Comments
Comments: Nice day out, in less than favorable conditions. Snow was soft right off the bat. I used snowshoes most of the time and opted for hillsounds coming down the Brutus.
Both bushwhacks are not the conventional way that I've done them in the past. Our group and 3 others kept to the track that was laid out today and it got us there without any issues. The Black Pond bw seemed low and the Brutus took a sharp left early on and avoided super steeps; we also noted there were many switchbacks built into this track, I like.

On the way out the BP bushwhack slowed us down as we sunk down every few steps in snowshoes. Once on Black Pond Trail, it was so nice to cruise along without much thought until I was snapped out of this bliss slipping off a bog bridge into mud and submerging up to my calf and locking my snowshoe, hand and pole in - the bog bridges are SLICK, lol. Great company and a very fun hike with Dot and Elizabeth. Nice to see John and Pepper.

My 12th time on the Owl and it was superb. "We'll never have to come back here again," they say ....but we will.
