| Comments: |
We started around 10:45, with two of us on snowshoes and two with microspikes. The trail was solid on the way up, with bright blue skies. It warmed to around 50 degrees, and the snow was mashed potatoes on the way down. Microspikes were occasionally postholing, and crossing open water was becoming more difficult because the snow bridges were collapsing, and the banks were melting. Jumping skills were helpful. We finished around 5:00ish.
I wouldn’t consider using spikes from here on out because of the snow conditions, but snowshoes are still a must. |
