Comments
Comments: Lower half of the trail (below crossing 3) is still mostly snow covered with a few short bare spots on the southern exposed areas. Snowpack down here is probably 6-18 inches. The lower half of the trail can probably be barebooted except in really warm temperatures.

Snowpack quickly increases above crossing 3. Generally about 3 to 6 feet of snow. Unfortunately, someone decided to posthole the heck out of the Sosman Trail in the warmer daytime temps (both heading toward the ski area and the monorail on the left loop to the summit). Very nasty going. The snowpack had set up this evening in the colder temperatures, but we wore snowshoes anyway; very much needed on the Sosman Trail toward the ski area as it's not well packed.

In the interest of time, we dropped onto an ungroomed ski trail, but avoided open/actively groomed ski trails.
