Comments
Comments: Light snow showers all day. The Basin Bushwhack is easy to find and follow. I wore spikes door to door but wished I had snowshoes for the ridge. Spikes or bare booting was fine below the ridge. The snow was drifting about 6" deep as you approached each summit. It didn't look like anyone has been using the tiny bushwhack off of Liberty as it was completely snowed in. Since I don't like to go the official route with Nala, we broke it out. Lots of snow drifts over a hard-packed trail along the ridge. I was following 2 pairs of boot steps all the way to Liberty. Met the 2 guys about .1 mile below the ridge and had a pleasant conversation. They did not go to Flume. The ridge, especially between Liberty & Flume would benefit from some snowshoe packing. Sad to say, I missed the boat by not bringing them. :(
