I started my accent at 10:30AM and the trails were very passable. Snow was soft but no issue. First mile starts out as wet trail and patchy snow to suddenly lots of snow. I did fine on the way up in an aggressive trail running shoe (Salomon Speedcross 4), but the would have love really loved microspikes for the decent, especially the steep section where you're just over half way to the bottom. Started my decent at 12:30PM and by then the snow was straight mashed potatoes and slippery, really had to watch it on every little down.
Overall a great hike, temps hit upper 50's. Fairly clear day and the views were fantastic. |
