Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The largest crossing was at Dudley's Dell, where there is a very narrow 2x4-like footbridge. I opted to cross elsewhere on rocks.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The footbridge over Kimpton Brook (which was roaring) at the start of KBT is missing one slat, so watch your step. KBT is lightly-traveled and vague in spots. We lost it numerous times and found it more difficult to follow on the way back. The trail is marked with a mix of plastic and white paint blazes, but some of those are very faded. Several large blowdowns on this trail as well. We removed a lot of branches on the way out. The only issue on BMT was one large stepover near the first large ledge. We also rebuilt a cairn here that was toppled.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: A mix of flies, gnats, a few butterflies and a couple of mosquitoes.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Another trek to Bog on trails this time, after my bushwhack in from the north two days ago. We started at Schoolhouse Lane to add a little distance to this normally short hike.

A typical mix of spring conditions on both trails. Dry ground, wet ground, some standing pools of water, mud and patches of snow. No traction needed. Once on the ridge, things are mainly dry, although I did take a slip in some mud. The near-summit ledges are dry. From the bench, we took the short herd path to the true (this seems to match the spot elevation on the USGS) summit, then dropped down to the excellent cleared view of Cardigan.

Beautiful views from all of the outlooks today with pleasant temps, bright skies and a light breeze. Perfect hiking weather! Bog is a gem!
