Comments
Comments: Started my Spring/summer hiking season with the kind of mountains I hope to focus on this year: lower in elevation, but still just as rewarding. My friend Rob suggested a traverse of the Squam range, north to south, hiking over seven peaks. Conditions were soft snow and ice above about 1500-1700', basically dry below that. Spikes were helpful, trail crampons even more so, for the snow/ice stretches.

Clear, blue skies on this warm Spring day, with a pleasant wind, made this the ideal time to get acquainted with these peaks. Well worth the time!
