Comments
Comments: The C-R trail is dry about 1/3 of the way up with only a few patches of snow that are easily avoided. There were a couple of muddy spots where we sunk in about 1-2". Once the full snow cover started we put on microspikes which, except on the ledges, we wore all the way up and down to the same spot when we took them off again. Lots of icy patches between the big blowdown and the first set of ledges where running water crossed the trail. Ledges were mostly clear. The section between the first ledges to the final summit climb was packed powder/spring snow, ranging in depth from 2-8" depending on the sun exposure. Climb to trail intersection was bare ledges. Trail to North Cube was packed powder/spring snow until reaching the cairn on the ridge. Walk to the summit was mostly bare ledges. Beautiful day, warmer than expected. Wore winter hiking pants and a sleeveless top once we started climbing! No gloves needed either! 72 degrees at the parking lot!
