| Water Crossing Notes: |
Upper part of White Cross has large puddles; crossing them will be slightly thought provoking if you want your boots to remain bone dry. If you don't mind a bit of wet, crossings will be trivial. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are in fine shape for the most part. |

Microspikes are "OK" but entirely optional. We bare-booted the whole thing, and while some patches of snow and ice slowed us down, it wasn't a significant thing. If in doubt, pack the spikes and deploy as needed. By next week, I think the trails are going to be almost entirely bare rock. There are some significant waterfalls in the expected places, but none so significant as to warrant picking a different route. Lower elevation dirt trails are firm for the most part, with an isolated stretch of the lowest, earliest/last part of the trail being the lone exception. But you can skirt around the edges of that bit well enough.
When anything in the Whites is distinctly in mud season, this is a fine alternative.
