Trail was fantastic down low - nice and dry. Once we hit the ledges, wet rocks from running water required careful watching of footing. After entering the balsam firs above the ledges, ice frequently covered much of the trail, but thankfully with care taken, no traction was needed. I'd still recommend microspikes for about the next week or so for maximum comfort - about half of all folks up high wore them. Fantastic views from top, with 100-mile vistas - Mount Monadnock, Portland skyline/the ocean, and Camden Hills all visible. |
