|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Cardigan, Firescrew, NH|
||Manning Trail, Holt Trail, Mowglis Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Monday, May 14, 2018|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Parked at AMC Cardigan Lodge. |
||Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||Rock hoppable. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Holt Trail is in rough shape. Old blowdowns, blown out sections of trail, brushy, and not enough blazing. Hard to follow up high, even if you have a general knowledge of the trail, as the blazes have faded. |
||Please don't take your dogs up Holt. Saw claw marks on one of the steep ledges from where a poor hound slid. |
||Black flies were vexing down low, but not too bad elsewhere. |
|Lost and Found:
||Steve Holt! Trail was generally dry with no snow or ice on the trail. A few sections of ledge were wet, but the friction climbs were dry.|
Snow free and dry between the peaks.
A few small patches of ice on Manning, but avoidable at this point. Lots of trout lily blooming down low.
