Comments
Comments: Fine views all day. Calm wind, very comfortable. I used snowshoes all the way up (micros for descent below 3000'); the steeps, scrambly sections, and ledges were DICEY - icy and bony. Lost trail a couple times. Some of the big drop-offs were difficult to ascend - I had to keep kicking steps in and hoping they would hold. The ice-flows had bushwhack bypasses for the most part. Frozen postholes were a real problem. The lower portions were not postholed as badly as the upper portions past the Webster-Jackson Junction. Beyond that point, it was COMPLETELY TERRIBLE!!!! I rolled both ankles several times despite spending 2X as much time checking foot placement. The trails were EXTREMELY slow today. However, the views from the outlooks were AMAZING!!!! Saw almost noone all day except for Jackson summit.
