Comments
Comments: Nice day out on the Tripyramids. Trails very dry and in good condition, up until the steep sections on Scaur and Pine Brook when I finally had to put on the spikes for a few hundred meters 'til the north summit, would have been quite sketchy without the traction. After that, limited patches of snow and vestiges of monorail on the ridge made barebooting generally fine. There was only 1-2 spots on the ridge between north and middle peaks that had any snow deep enough for a posthole, and even then it was approximately a foot of deteriorating snow. Oh, and there were at least a dozen patches of moose poop on the ridge (also saw one from the car on rt 49 not far from the Tripoli Rd turnoff) ... had to watch where I was stepping! Only saw one other person on the trail, a woman who passed me on the south slide (also going clockwise) who had come up the north slide - she was no worse for wear, but said "I probably won't be doing that again".
