Green Mountain is on the New Hampshire 300 Highest List and also part of Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest. It’s a long-term study of air, water, soils, plants, and animals and some freaky science projects along the way to the summit.
We started off on gated Wier Rd, soon picking up Flume Rd and followed it to the end. We then started bushwhacking after crossing a small brook heading northwest climbing in nice woods with tons of activity by the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest folks. Once on the eastern ridge of Green things leveled off still in nice woods and funky science projects here and there we continued to the summit and recognized high point. We more or less followed our returned the same way we came exploring the woods. Just a little moose and bear signs along the way. I was certainly expecting more.
