Comments: Bollies Trail, bushwhack, herd path and walking on pickup sticks

Paugus Mountain - Northeast Peak is on the New Hampshire 300 Highest List. With lot of expected rain, we go an early start on the Bollies trail just off the Kancamagus Highway. The Bollies trail is pretty moderate and smooth going although we had well over a dozen water crossing that were all rock hop-able.

Once at the height of land we started bushwhacking west, soon hit a very steep scramble up and picked up the eastern ridge as things climbed moderately in nice woods. We then hit the summits southern ridge turning us north as we started hitting much thicker and very wet woods from last night rain.

We skirted toward the west to less thick and nasty stuff and that worked for a short distance as the worst of it was still to come. With just over a few hundred yards or so things got real thick and nasty with hundreds of blow down to climb over, under and threw. It looked like a bomb hit and the we popped out at the recognized high point. Just past the summit there’s a great view area with some massive cliffs below! O and we beat the rain!
