Sawyer River Rd is closed indefinitely, so be prepared to walk an extra 2+ miles in each direction. We met some very glum young men in the 302 parking lot who did not know that. |

Despite the recent rains and the fact there is still snow and ice on the mountains, the crossings were not bad. |

| Comments: |
There are still a couple of spots where there is a little snow or black ice, but you can leave your snow shoes and microspikes at home from this point on. We easily walked over everything, and the forecast for highs in the 70s will render the trails quite nice by the last weekend of May, 2018.
The tower is having new guardrails installed, and there are missing on one side, so the tower is officially closed. You can easily get up it and just stay away from that side, err, I've been told. |
