Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, June 8, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Ammo forest service lot. About 15% full at 9AM. It was weird to see no cars in the Caps Ridge lot. Jefferon Notch Rd is closed with a few trees down on the 1.4 mile section we walked to get from Caps to Boundary Line.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bridges over Ammo and Clay on Jewell, crossing of Clay Brook on Boundary Line easy rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown area on Jewell about 2 miles from Base Road easy to go around. One or two other minor blowdowns. Just about everything has been cleared on Caps save one duck under just above jct with Link. Mnay thanks to the Trail adopter and his helpers. That appeared to be a lot of work. On Jewell, the area around the Ammo crossing is a bit of a mess but flagging shows the best way to the bridge
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Abby is 25 lbs and a seasoned hiker so her paw pads are tough. She had no issues but the northern presi rocks are tough on dogs feet. Although she had no issues on Caps it could be problematic for some dogs to descend.
Bugs
Bugs: Only an issue the last mile on Caps Ridge. Too breezy on top today.

Comments
Comments: Not a bad loop and quiet with the road closure. It was fun having the Caps Ridge entirely to ourselves. We got a relatively late start and were rewarded with lifting clouds and sunshine.
