| Dog-Related Notes: |
She had a tough time on Walden trail, had to lift her up over two spots that were covered in ice, she couldn't get any traction and it was real steep ( real fun with a squirming 80 pound Sheperd ). Minor snow balling on paws. -10 when we started so she was dancing a little to start. Walden will be tough for dogs ( and humans ) for a while unless it gets dumped on with snow and even then. |

| Comments: |
Wonalancet Range trail was tough at the steeps due to large amounts of ice under the snow, hard to get traction but do-able with snowshoes that have good crampons. Walden trail was hell. The loose powder combined with massive amounts of ice made traction a problem. Should have switched to crampons cause even in MSR lightnings traction was a real issue. We made it but there was a lot of cursing. Had to pull myself up with my arms many times and every time I grabbed a tree I got covered in snow, holy freakin steep. Dicey mill trail was a breeze. We skipped Wonalancet Mt due to ice under the snow so the Short cut is now broken out, aside from Dicey Mill nothing had been broken out. One of the hardest winter hikes I have done in the whites. Yes my name IS Chance. |
