Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: So many water crossings, only the one at Stillwater required removal of boots, we walked through with our trail runners. All other and there were many were rock-hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Zealand & Ethan Pond in great shape. Shoal Pond had multiple blowdowns but it looked like the one that could not be walked over or under were removed so that was great! Lots of bog bridges will or require replacement. Wilderness out to Thoreau Falls Trail in as good as shape as a "wilderness area" trail would be. Carrigan Notch trail looks like the trail adopters were out recently getting the blowdowns removed, lots of fresh ax chips! Nancy Pond from Carrigan Notch trail looks to have some maintenance on the drainage and brush recently at least for the first mile. The steep part needs drainage bars cleaned. The portion from Norcross Pond to 302 looks good.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of water for dogs. Saw one on Shoal Pond having a great time, getting muddy.
Bugs
Bugs: Oh yeah!

Comments
Comments: 2 day backpack from Zealand to Nancy Pond (302). Camped at Stillwater. Shoal Pond is nice little spot, glad we finally got out there. Ran into 2 guys doing a continuous hike of the 48 4000 footers on day 11, 8 days to go and fellow redliners. Lots of nice swimming holes along SPT on this hot 4th of July. Our spot at Stillwater was a great place to cool off. The views from the Norcross Pond Outlet of the Bonds Twins range were nice. It was great to see different views of the mountains. Nancy Cascades was another place to cool off.
