One crossing on Howker Ridge, easy rock hop |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
RMC crew has done a great job clearing blow downs on Howker. A little more brushing and freshining of blazes might be good |

Some scrambles might be tough but much of footbed is great |

| Bugs: |
Breeze kept them away until the last stretch on rail trail when mosquitoes attacked |

Howker Ridge is gorgeous trail but never gets easier. Great way to do Madison though
There is a very aggressive spruce grouse nesting in the scrub shortly after the last major howk. She flew fast at and hit my head, glared at me then from the ground, then flew at me again as I was exiting her area; this time, I knew she was there and had picked up the pace, so she missed. |
