| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
room for several cars at end of Carter Mountain Road in New Hampton where it turns to a Class 6 road. I could have driven .5 or 1 mile up the class 6 road, actually.... was in really good shape for logging but it looked to me like the logging was completed - there was no sign of equipment or current logging activity |

| Bugs: |
I had heard horrible reports of ticks but didn't find even 1 on me. I even went into the big grassy clearcut on the way up where the herd path begins. There were amazing views to Franconia Notch/Cannon/Chocorua/etc. from it. |

This has been on my to-do list forever. I had a few morning hours and decided to give it a go. Really pretty woods. Nice logging really opened up the woods so they weren't so dreary. Good views at ledge areas. I wasn't sure the herd path would be that easy to follow, but, as long is you're paying attention, it's easy. Restricted summit views - was nice to see Ragged from a different perspective!!!! Thanks Rocket21 for your Franklinsites description of how to get there!!!! |
