Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Brushing remains the main work item for this trail. We cleared about ¼ mile from the Elwell junction to the westernmost stream crossing. That leaves the stretch along the beaver ponds and a bit east of that for this year. Altogether though, the trail is quite passable. The major blowdowns are gone, including one which had been a problem for a few years. Half a dozen or so easy step-overs remain to rot. Since resetting, the puncheons have been stable, though one really needs a rock as a step up and to have some logs made less slippery. The drains near the cellar hole are clear for now, and will only need work as the leaves fall. Besides continued clearing of hobblebush and beech/birch sprouts, the main work item for this year is blazing. I expect to get to that over the next few weeks. The sign for the Elwell Trail remains damaged.
