Comments
Comments: Four hikers from northeastern Massachusetts broke out the trail from parking lot to the first open ledge overlooking route 302. I broke trail from that point to Mt Crawford and then on Davis Path to nearly Crawford Dome. There was an icy crust from the mixed precipitation on Saturday night. Snow broke in slabs. The snow was deeper beyond the Mt Crawford spur and it appeared that this section of the Davis Path hadn't received the traffic that the lower section experienced. Anyone venturing to Mt Resolution or Mt Stairs will have to break trail from Crawford Dome northward. Obstacles were minimal with a few trees to duck under or boughs to push aside. All higher elevation peaks were in the clouds so Mt Crawford was a good choice for today.
