granular ice surface caused some bleeding from a few paws we saw |

Swirling clouds-easy surface of frozen granular crust after thaw-->refreeze. Snowshoes were good for us, although previous post-holers left irregular surface. traction might be ok if cold continues. most of granite ledges above treeline blown clear of ice & snow.
