Comments
Comments: Auto road nicely packed by snowmobile traffic...bootable, but snowshoes were fine too. Attempted Barlow Trail at first, but upon discovering only a single set of tracks up it (prior to ice storm), didn't want to do 1.6 miles of uneven trailbreaking with a breakable crust. Instead, followed Winslow Trail, which was sort of a sugar snow - snowshoes seemed to provide the best traction. Up high in the scrub, the trail meanders and barebooters were finding some spruce traps. My downhill snowshoe tracks follow the trail proper. Ice on exposed ledges up high. Cut off a bit of the Winslow Trail on descent by following snowmobile tracks down the power line cut.
