Crossing is a bit tricky, especially in snowshoes. Hopped upstream on the way in. On the way out, I bushwhacked down to the highway bridge and crossed there. |

Someone cleaned up a few blowdowns very recently. One 6" diameter blowdown prior to the Noon steeps remaining. |

Trail was in decent shape up to Noon Peak - somewhat soft spring snow in the sun, frozen granular in the shade. Toward the Drake junction, the footbed became uneven and postholed...not much fun. Snow was still set up, so my snowshoes were unable to fix too much of it. Skipped Jennings Peak in part due to lost time on this (and the spur to Jennings didn't look too fun either). Tracks down Drake, nothing on Smarts, Algonquin, or Bennett/Gleason. |
