| Comments: |
The Davis Path up the steep ridge to Mt Crawford spur trail is hard pack snow with some small icy sections which are easily avoided. The trails beyond the spur trail to Mt Crawford did not appear to be used recently. Nevertheless the snow is crusty so it was easy to stay afloat. There are stretches of the Davis Path requiring side slope walking on Mt Resolution and Stairs Mountain. The Davis Path north of Stairs Mountain have some drifted areas and evergreen boughs intruding on the trailway. The direction of the Davis Path becomes obscure in the open north slope of Stairs Mountain. The spur trail to Stairs Mountain was in good shape with some iciness on the lookout ledge. The Mt Parker Trail to Mt Resolution had some ice on the ledges which can be bypassed by walking at the upper portion of the ledge. Great views from all three mountains. Saw no other hikers all day which enhanced the sense of remoteness in the wilderness area. |
