Comments
Comments: Up Brookway,Lower Walking Boss, and Upper Walking Boss ski trails to North Peak. Several ski patrollers said Hi. On way down saw sign directing snowshoers to Brookway ski trail, so it's OK to hike them. Found herdpath a few hundred feet below North Pk, took it to just before it turns down and north towards Black Mtn. Traversed to right towards saddle, making a few attempts of about 75 yards each until we found a line with minimal spruce. From the saddle, continued up the fall line, through mostly open woods with just a few spruce patches. After the shoulder, encountered orange tapes, removing most of them when our line got close to them. First to canister since 2/12/11. Barebooted up until Upper Walking Boss, then microspikes as it was in the shade and icy. Showshoes from herdpath onward. After leaving the herdpath, which is skied to Black Mtn and therefore firm, we switched to snowshoes, sinking in 4-6" to occasional shin deep or spruce trap. Once we found a line, the terrain was very mellow.
