access road a little rough, but nothing out of the ordinary. |

one stepover blowdown below starr king and a climb over and duck under along the ridge. |

some black flies that were pretty bad in the parking lot, but once moving they weren't a problem. |

| Comments: |
wet and muddy in the usual places down low. remained generally wet with patchy snow/ice above the spring. between the summits there were more significant snow/ice patches, but they were still sporadic and generally minor. climb of waumbek still holding most consistently.
i carried light traction, but never needed it. some may want it for descent of waumbek, but i can't imagine there will be snow/ice there much longer.
nice day to hike waumbek. no rain during the hike and pretty decent temps. nice wildflowers through out the hardwood section of the hike as stated by previous posters.
