| Comments: |
signal ridge and carrigan notch trails are mostly dry with small areas of mud/water/running water. all easily avoided.
the bushwack was dry. we started the bushwack just beyond the large rock in the notch trail about 40 minutes past the junction of signal ridge and carrigan notch trails. the herd path was hard to follow because of all the blowdowns until just before the talus field.
the cairn in the upper left hand corner is not visable when first coming out of the woods so we stayed to the right and found access to the herd path at the top of the field. the talus is not stable and care is needed when crossing. again blowdowns made it hard to follow the herd path but with up as the direction of choice we had no problem making progress. the summit marker was easily found. on the decent we strayed further south(to the right going down) of our accent path which brought us into more spruce but we were able to find the stream bed that brought us back to the bushwack beginning.
easy walk out retracing our walk in. great views of mts carrigan, lowell, tremont, greens cliff, signal ridge and all further south. |
