| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We took the loop in a counterclockwise direction. The west and south sides of the loop were in great shape with evidence of recent waterbar cleaning. There were some mucky and wet spots for a while on the east side of the loop; there are clogged waterbars, and a need for some repairs and additional waterbars. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
We met some happy four-legged friends and one inspiring three-legged friend who was making hiking look easy. The rocks should be pretty easy for you good boys and girls; stay back from the edges. |
|
| Bugs: |
Insect repellent helped a lot. Bugs were mostly mosquitoes with some black flies, gnats, and who knows what else. |

| Comments: |
This was a fun hike on a day with a so-so weather forecast. There were a lot of good views from 2500 feet, with dark clouds hanging on to the higher summits most of the day. We finally got some great views of Passaconaway and Chocorua around the east ledges. |
