| Bugs: |
In early morning, Nancy Pond trail from Norcross Pond to Carigan Notch, bugs were not an issue. Coming back in the warmer middle of the day, we were swarmed through that low area. We expected as much and were prepared. Advise others the same. Minor irritant if you have spray, light long sleeves, and you KEEP MOVING. |

Overnight and day hike the next day. Nancy Pond trailhead at 5pm on Fri. Camp at Norcoss Pond by 745. Not see another hiker or camper above the cascades on our entire trip. Very easy to find camp spots away from pond and trail around Norcross. View from the West end of the pond in the morning is great. We tried to get to the top of Carignan via Desolation still get to the car on 302 by 5pm. We almost made it but Desolation is not a trail you can fly up. We went about 3/4 of the way up Desolation then I insisted we head back. All in all a great overnight hike. |
