Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy crossing Austin Brook at several places on rocks, logging road bridge and bog bridges.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Austin Brook Trail in good shape. A.T. has a lot of mud and running water from Gentian Pond to Mt. Success. The rain we had overnight was part of the cause.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs early when temps were around 50, or when the wind was blowing above treeline. At other times there were a few but not too bad.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a tarp on the A.T. carried it out on my way back down.

Comments
Comments: My first time on Austin Brook Trail. A nice trail on old logging roads and in the woods but the landowner has expanded the logging road system and the trail follows new roads and skidder trails for a bit, north of the Dryad Fall Trail. Keep an eye out for signs and blue blazes to stay on the trail. A.T. is in good shape, I clipped back some brush and branches as I hiked. All blowdowns have been cleared. I saw 9 hikers on the A.T. The rain overnight stopped at about 6 AM, cloudy, foggy and windy on Mt. Success, not much for views today. The sky cleared in the afternoon. Another enjoyable day on the trail.
