Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Spotted a car on Mountain Road in Greenfield and parked the other car at beginning of the section on Temple Road in Sharon. No one at either place in the morning. A fair number of cars at both places at the end of the day. At the Rt 101 crossing into Miller State Park we were approached by Miss Smokey the Ranger Girl who asked us where we parked our car and then she accused us of parking across the highway at the Temple Mtn parking lot in order to avoid paying the entrance fee. She didn't seem to believe us when we said we parked in Sharon. And she said we had to pay the entrance fee no matter where we were parked. (Then why did she ask us where we parked?)It was $4 a head. This is probably not an issue during the week in the offseason. Hike Free or Die?
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No problems.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A stepover or two. There was a mountain ash leaner encroaching on the trail someplace. I forgot my Sven Saw again. Otherwise could have removed it. The tree can be bent for passage but it looks like some people are walking around through the picker bushes to avoid it. The yellow triangles on the trail heading north from Pack Monadnock are very faded and could cause some confusion for anyone not familiar with the trail. (like us.)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of dogs on the trail. But not a lot of water for them.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: The second and last section of CJ and my Wapack Trail trip which we tacked onto the end of our Midstate Trail trek. About 9 miles or so? What's next? Probably the North-South Trail in RI, starting at the southern end of the Midstate Trail.
